Following up on last year’s Urban Gothic debut LP, Xander Harris is lining up a new single on Mogwai’s Rock Action label. ‘Cry Havoc’/’Heathen Birth’ will be out on November 3, with a second album set to follow currently in the works, and the label have given us a first play of the A-side.
Commiserations to Buffy The Vampire Slayer fans, who may be disappointed to find that Harris is not Buffy’s mate rendered real and with a penchant for giallo, but in fact the Austin-based producer and equally finely-named Justin Sweatt. They should, though, take heart in the fact that ‘Cry Havoc’ is a fine retro-futuristic drum machine pounder, which slowly immerses itself in a pool of lapping analogue synth waves. Listen above.
