Wysing Space-Time Festival: Line-Up

Festival to feature names including Alexander Tucker, Emptyset and Damo Suzuki

Wysing’s Space-Time Festival is now in its third year, with this year’s edition taking place on 1st September at the 11-acre rural site of the Wysing Arts Centre, 9 miles outside Cambridge.

Artist Mark Titchner has given this year’s event its title – ‘And If It Was It Can’t Be Is’. He’s also set to perform a set alongside Alexander Tucker, whose recent album Third Mouth crash landed deservedly in our top LPs of 2012 so far list. They’re joined at the festival by several generations of leftfield, exploratory music-makers and artists. Highlights include counter-culture figures like The Boyle Family and Bruce Lacey (recently discussed here), Damo Suzuki, the dark vibrations of Emptyset and garish, joyful noise from Maria & The Mirrors.

Also confirmed are Ice Sea Dead People, Peepholes, Yola Fatoush, Grubby Mitts, Longmeg and Lustfaust, and the local scene is well represented by drone-sculptor Ypsmael and murky avant-pop trio Kelvox1, both from Cambridge, and the billowy electronic pop of Bury St Edmunds’ The Soft.

In addition, there’s a stage devoted to spoken word and screenings by visual artists including Anthea Hamilton, Peles Empire and Elizabeth Price and, for the first time, a covered artists’ stalls area which houses small publishers, independent record labels, artists’ collectives, experimental galleries and studio groups

Tickets can include camping and a return coach pass from St Pancras or Cambridge, and are now on sale, along with more information, here.
