Wire Announce 40th Anniversary DRILL Events

Band to mark four decades with a series of special events

Wire have announced details of a new series of DRILL events marking 40 years together.

While the band will release their 15th studio album, entitled Silver/Lead, on March 31, they will follow it up with a number of events starting in April, with the band set to play in LA on April 1 marking the anniversary of the band’s first gig as the classic four-piece lineup which took place at London’s Roxy Club 40 years before it. DRILL : LA will feature Julia Holter, Bob Mould and more as guests.

They will follow DRILL : LA with a US tour three further DRILL : FESTIVALS. The first of those will take place at Brudenell Social Club in Leeds from April 21-23, with Shobaleader One, Nanna, Azores, Richard Formsby, Immersion, Slows, The Pinkflag Guitar Orchestra, Nope, Golden Meat and more set to join them. The Berlin edition takes place on May 7 at the Volksbühne Theatre, with guests Automat, Camera, Tarwater, The Pinkflag Guitar Orchestra and Cummi Flue. Finally, they will travel to Brussels on May 13, with Blanck Mass, Dans Dans, Raime, Paper Hats, Onrust, Delvaux, The Pinkflag Guitar Orchestra and The Fly all joining them.

The band will precede all these events with a club set at Reading’s Sub89 on March 15 and will also play London’s The Garage on May 4 and 5. All information on upcoming DRILL events can be found here and you can listen to ‘Short Elevated Period’ from their forthcoming new album above.
