Next weekend, British Sea Power will play a concert under the terracotta tiles of Alfred Waterhouse’s Romanesque masterpiece, the Natural History Museum. Now, as it happens, The Quietus was, many moons ago, involved in planting the germ of the idea in various minds, so we’re very chuffed to be able to offer five pairs of guaranteed entry tickets to this free-for-all affair. As British Sea Power guitarist Noble remarked in his blog on the band’s own site, “Could Ursine Ultra come face to face with his taxidermised ancestors|??” Ursine Ultra, to the uninitiated, is the large bear that occasionally joins the ’Sea Power boys onstage during their set-closing melee.
British Sea Power are playing as part of Exhibition Road Music Day, and will be onstage at around 20.30. As the event is being run on a first-come first-served basis, you’ll need to get their early to have a chance of getting in to see what capers might take place alongside the noted bird gallery, or the Museum’s collection of attractive rocks. But we at the Quietus have five pairs of tickets to give away, in random pot-luck, to the first five email addresses we pull out of our E-hat.
