Last year, Oozing Wound, or "three guys with the desire to slay" to nab their own description, released their second album, Earth Suck. Interviewing the band’s Zack Weil, tQ’s Nick Hutchings described the record as a set of songs that "teeter on the precipice of an abyss as part imagined by Dante, part inhabited by Donatello the Ninja Turtle […] low end, no frills, zero pretension, but one hundred per cent commitment and every bit as entertaining", while Mr Weil himself says of his band: "Like turtles summoned to Galápagos, we were drawn together by the almighty riff." But enough of the words – give their video for ‘Call Your Guy’ a play above.
Next week, the band are playing a six-date UK tour – Chameleon Arts Cafe, Nottingham on March 30; Nice N Sleazy, Glasgow, 31; Key Club, Leeds, April 1; Exchange, Bristol, 2; Our Black Heart, London, 4 and Craufurd Arms, Milton Keynes, 5, with Ghold supporting on all dates bar London, where fellow proclivity enthusiasts Bad Guys will be on the bill. Full details and tickets are over at Thrill Jockey’s website, but the label have kindly given us a pair of tickets to give away to one reader, so to be in with a chance of winning, just send an e-mail to comps@thequietus.com, with ‘OOZING’ in the subject line. The competition closes at 3 pm tomorrow, Friday 27 March, after which we’ll pick the winners at random. To read the Quietus Competition Terms & Conditions, click here.
