Following on from the summer release of Lightnesses, William Doyle’s first full release away from his previous East India Youth project, he’s now shared a second volume of the series, naturally called Lightnesses II.
As with the previous instalment, the record is made up of two long-form, 30-minute ambient pieces, and you can check a video for one of the two pieces, ‘History of Change’, above. The video consists of a loop of a car’s tail lights illuminating a Joshua tree.
"This volume is darker in tone than the major keys of the first volume," Doyle says of Lightnesses II in comparison to the previous instalment. "A sense of a resolution that never quite arrives."
He continues: "I’d been keeping these aside for a release intended much further in the future, but very recently I found myself needing to revist the space these tracks put me in. It induced a sense of calm and warmth in me that I felt others could benefit from as the days in the northern hemisphere become colder."
You can check both tracks, as well as purchase them, here.
