Wilco Announce New Album

"There MUST be more love than hate. Right?! I'm not always positive we can be so sure," says Jeff Tweedy

Wilco have confirmed details of their 11th studio album, Ode To Joy.

The new record comes more than three years on from previous effort Schmilco, and is preceded by lead track ‘Love Is Everywhere (Beware)’, which you can hear above.

Speaking about the band’s new music, Jeff Tweedy says: "There MUST be more love than hate. Right?! I’m not always positive we can be so sure. In any case, I’m starting to feel like being confident in that equation isn’t always the best motivation for me to be my best self – it can kind of let me off the hook a little bit when I think I should be striving to contribute more love outside of my comfortable sphere of family and friends.

He continues: " I guess the song is sort of a warning to myself that YES, Love IS EVERYWHERE, but also BEWARE! I can’t let that feeling absolve me of my duty to create more."

Tweedy describes the album as being full of "really big, big folk songs," the writing process for which was mainly led by him and the band’s Glenn Kotche.

Ode To Joy is out on October 4 via dBpm Records. You can pre-order it here. The band will tour Europe through September, taking in UK dates in Glasgow, Manchester and London. Find the full list of shows here.
