Six years on from the release of their cheeky bootleg remix album, Stolen Voices, the London/Berlin trio of White Label returned last month with their first legitimate album of remixes, entitled Borrowed Voices.
Featured across the album are remixes of tracks by Paul Weller, Emma Pollock and Erland Cooper & Hannah Peel. Also featured is a delicate reworking of Mark Eitzel’s ‘We All Have To Find Our Own Way Out’, and a new video for that is premiering above via tQ.
The trio – made up of Steve Aungle, Anth Brown, Tom Doyle – originally released their debut album in 2011 following it up later with the 1972 EP, which featured Neil Young, Marc Bolan and Roberta Flack. Their work soon began to gather attention, and they were soon advised by lawyers to stop selling vinyl copies of Stolen Voices on their website in order to avoid legal action.
As a result of the work that appeared on those early releases though, the trio were soon approached to produce official remixes, and those tracks make up Borrowed Voices, which is out now and can be downloaded for free here.
In the coming months White Label also plan to play shows featuring them performing live to films made for tracks from Borrowed Voices, as well as their previous two releases, by David Black of Black Creative.
