First look at video for single from forthcoming second album Images Du Futur

Montreal are set to release a new album Images Du Futur on March 4 via Secretly Canadian, and we’ve got the premiere of the video for first single ‘2020’.

Director Sabrina Ratté dug out a visual oscillator for the video, which takes the track’s electro stomp and sub-bass warbles and maps them out through the flickering black and white footage, all making for one hypnotic clip (which you might want to steer clear of if you’re epileptic). All very clever stuff and worth a good chin stroke, which, combined with that lotus-eating Jon Spencer Blues Explosion guitar slide and the hushed, barely-there vocals, makes for a mighty fine video to boot.

Say the band: "Sabrina is a good friend and an amazing video artist. We’ve wanted to work with her for some time and this video was the ideal project. We shot some shots and she did her thing. What a trip." Couldn’t agree more.

The band are off on tour in support of the album next month, touching down in the UK in May – here are the dates:

MAY

Tue 14 – XOYO, London

Wed 15 – Brudenell Social Club, Leeds

Thu 16 – The Grand Social, Dublin

Fri 17 – The Kazimier, Liverpool

Sat 18 – The Exchange, Bristol
