The Moonlandingz, the ace collaborative project by members of the Fat White Family and The Eccentronic Research Council have unveiled a suitably greasy and unkempt video for a new version of their track ‘Sweet Saturn Mine’, which goes under the moniker of the ‘Sean Lennon De-Mix’, and you can watch it above.
Directed by American model and musician Charlotte Kemp Muhl, the video masterfully captures the song’s depraved abandon via increasingly trippy camera techniques and sleazy dancing and ends with frontman Lias Saudi being stabbed to death with a broad sword by fellow Fat White Family member and Moonlandingz guitarist Saul Adamczewski.
The version of the song itself is a slower but just as mind-bending trip-out, and was recorded with and then re-fixed by none other than Sean Lennon. Speaking about working on the video with Muhl & Lennon, Adrian Flanagan of the Eccentronic Research Council said that they recorded the video in “the basement of a 1920s cinema in Sheffield”.
Later this month The Moonlandingz embark on a five date tour across England and Scotland, and on August 28 we here at tQ will be presiding over their show at The Lexington, just downstairs from our office. You can grab tickets for the Lexington date here. The full tour dates are below.
