WATCH: New Gary Numan Studio Video

New studio video comes from sessions for the singer’s new crowdfunded album; watch it below

Gary Numan has shared studio footage exclusively with The Quietus of work on his as-yet untitled new album. You can watch it above.

His as-yet untitled 21st LP is due for release in October, and was launched with a crowdfunding appeal in November last year. The musician broke his goal in little over 24 hours thanks to over 4,000 pledgers with the money raised now standing at 200% of his initial target.

The singer is now sharing regular updates of his creative progress from writing to release. The latest video sees Numan preview an untitled new recording, adding the track’s keyboard part live as it plays.

When launching his Pledgemusic campaign, Numan said: “Making an album is often a long and tortuous process. As a fan you usually just get the finished product, an album slickly packaged, professional and shrink wrapped for your pleasure. But you miss entirely the journey it took to get that finished product to you. I would like to change that.

“With my new album, the 21st album of my career, I would like to involve you from the very beginning. I want you to be a witness to the entire process, from the very first note played, through every up and down as the days unfold, as each song comes together, as each lyric takes shape and as the first glimmer of art design comes into my head.”

Pledge rewards such as signed guitars, a remix by Numan and a private listening party have already been claimed, while other memorabilia such as a hand-written lyrics booklet and signed CD and vinyl copies of the new album are still available to pledgers here.
