Kranky will release a brand new album by Benoît Pioulard, entitled Sonnet, later this month, and ahead of its release, you can watch the video for LP track ‘So Etched In Memory’ above. "The space sequences were made by me, from scratch in 3D software," says the video’s director, Sean Curtis Patrick. "I chose to make them not look incredibly realistic, as I wanted it to harken back to old sci-fi films like 2001: A Space Odyssey and Solaris." He goes on: "The ‘earth’ sequence was shot one frame at a time, essentially using the real world as a stop animation machine."
Sonnet, a mostly instrumental album, is based "on a series of field recordings of tones and unintentional harmonies that I made in the summer and fall of 2013," says Thomas Meluch, aka Benoît Pioulard. "Unlike most of my previous recordings, there are no digital/software after-effects on the album; all sounds are from analogue tape and/or my few guitar pedals." Sonnet is out March 30 and you can listen to ‘A Shade Of Celadon’, also taken from the album, below.
