Last night, My Bloody Valentine inaugurated their return with a warm-up show at The Electric in Brixton. Opening a set of nicely-worn cuts from Isn’t Anything and Loveless, as well as three tracks from the EPs – ‘Honey Power’, ‘Thorn’ and ‘Slow’ – was a new song, titled as ‘Rough Song’ according to the setlist, report Consequence Of Sound.
Kevin Shields also responded to a member of the audience asking about the long, long, long-awaited follow-up to Loveless by saying that the new album could be out in "maybe two or three days".
It has in fairness been 22 years in the coming – there’s a phrase about pigs and flying that feels somewhat applicable here – but considering that the band wrote on their Facebook page last month "On 21-12-12 we finished mastering the new album!", it might be worth keeping an eye on the band’s website, which is where Shields has said they’ll release the record first.
