Low Sea are set to release their first album proper, Remote Viewing, on April 1 via Dell’Orso, and here’s the video for the album’s lead single.
The duo, comprising vocalist Billie, who moved to San Francisco from her native Bosnia when the war there broke out, and Liverpudlian musician Bobby D, met in the US before relocating to their current base, a cottage just outside of the fishing village Dunmore East near Waterford in Ireland. They recorded the album there, with a number of cuts, including the title track, subsequently being given a pop sheen in the mixing department by Pet Shop Boys affiliate Stephen Hague.
The group cite A-ha and My Bloody Valentine as reference points, and these both emerge here: strident, snare-rapping drum machine beats get matched to gliding synth strings, all of which gets distilled down into a three-minute pop gem.
