LCD Soundsystem have filmed a documentary based around footage of their farewell show at Madison Square Garden last year.
The film, which was directed by Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace, has the concert intercut with interviews with James Murphy, premiers at Sundance Film Festival, on Sunday January 22.
The band recorded Quietus Editor John Doran’s favourite song (‘Losing My Edge’) and album (Sound Of Silver) of the last ten or so years, so it goes without saying that we’re delighted by the news.
Announcing the film Shut Up And Play The Hits via facebook this evening, the band also released this brief statement:
"ok. we made a movie. we met these very nice english director guys will and dylan and they were going to make a thing about the band, and blah blah we filmed the MSG concert etc., but in the process they made a real-bonafide movie with a story and everything. it’s called Shut Up And Play The Hits. here’s the trailer:"
