Kristoffer Lo is probably best known in his native Norway as a member of pop group HighAsAKite but he also makes more leftfield music on his own with the aid of a tuba, a flugelhorn and a pile of FX pedals.
On Friday he is performing a piece with tQ editor John Doran in the Petter Dass sailor’s chapel at the Traena festival held just on the edge of the Arctic Circle on a remote volcanic archipelago.
But Kristoffer is no stranger to making music in unusual surroundings as this excellent mini-documentary by André Løyning shows.
The film captures the brass player utilising the reverberant possibilities thrown up by the interior of the lighthouse.
André Løyning is a highly regarded Norwegian documentary maker who is currently on the road in the US with Arabrot. He has also made a documentary about the inimitable folk singer Erling – a full-time resident of Traena – which can also be seen below.
