Experimental percussion collective Fiium Shaarrk released their first album, No Fiction Now!, on Monday via Not Applicable – have a watch of the video for LP cut ‘Wozzeck’s Variations’:

The trio comprises Sam Britton of Icarus, working under his solo moniker Isambard Khroustaliov, and virtuoso drummer Rudi Fischerlehner and percussionist Maurizio Ravalico. The album was recorded using some impressive technology, working on beat detection software that provided a more interactive link between the drummers and the electronics.
The album is something of a tour de force of time-bending rhythmic complexity and flittish electronic tumult, a formidable product of this man/machine synthesis. While the text accompanying the album explains that the album was recorded in a "spooky, half abandoned old DDR radio complex in Berlin", the atmosphere of the record isn’t at all alienating; instead, the clattering, free-improv movements produce something altogether more euphoric-sounding.
