Montreal resident Doldrums, who has emerged from the same soil as the likes of Grimes and d’Eon, released his new single ‘Egypt’ this week. The pseudonym of Airick Woodhead, Doldrums explores a similar electro-pop space as those contemporaries, all low-end heft, vocals recalling Thom Yorke and washed-out synth drift. There’s a definite hint of Radiohead’s more recent material to ‘Copper Girl’, one of the EP’s B-sides which you can watch the video for above, though well and truly dunked in the underground’s current love for all things muddy and murky.
‘Egypt’ is released this week on 12" vinyl and digital download through Souterrain Transmissions. Woodhead is currently on tour supporting Grimes.
