WATCH: Ane Brun – This Voice

First look at new video ahead of ten year retrospective's release later this year

Norwegian folk singer-songwriter Ane Brun has an expansive retrospective compilation, Songs 2003-2013, on the way, set for release on her own Balloon Ranger Recordings label on June 10. Drawing on material from her six studio albums, it also contains rarities, previously unreleased material and new recordings, including this new version of ‘This Voice’, originally on Brun’s second album A Temporary Dive – have a watch of the Valerie Toumayan-directed video, compiling clips of live performances of London, Paris and Stockholm, above.

Says Brun of the album: "I kind of told myself early on to continue doing this as long as it gave me pleasure, and it still does, more than ever. I’m still fingerpicking in front of my favourite TV series or with my morning coffee, just like I did ten to fifteen years ago. And it still fascinates me, just like it did when I wrote one of my very first songs, ‘Wooden Body’, sometime around the year 2000…”

She’ll also be playing material off the record at a handful of UK and Ireland dates in November:

NOVEMBER

Thu 14 – HMV Forum, London

Fri 15 – Ruby Lounge, Manchester

Sat 16 – Vicar St., Dublin

Mon 18 – Oran Mor, Glasgow

Ahead of them, have a watch Magnus Renfors’ short film ONE, inspired by Brun’s It All Starts With One and recently premiered for the first time on the web:
