Now on their fifth studio album, The Wild Hunt, set to be released on August 19 in Europe and a day later in North America via His Master’s Noise/Century Media Records, Watain have unleashed single ‘All That May Bleed’ (artwork above) as a taster of things to come. (It’s fittingly available on black and red vinyl and picture disc, backed with a cover of Taiwaz’s ‘Play With The Devil’.)
Starting with an ominous instrumental build up, including some military marching drums, Watain soon break into a hyper-charged guitar riff that sits on top of a chest-pounding beat. The venomous vocals that accompany the backing all merge to create a weighty chugging momentum in the track.
Say the band themselves of the track’s lyrics: "[They’re] an invitation to sacrificial blood letting, ecstatic zealotry and human sacrifice. The salt of Satan in the wounds of Christ!". Take a listen to the track below and see if you feel any of those urges:
