Sasu Ripatti, the producer better known as Vladislav Delay, will release his first album under the moniker in five years next week.
Titled Rakka, the seven-track album takes inspiration from the time Ripatti spent in the wilderness above the Arctic Circle and the tree lines of the area. He points out, however, that it is not a ‘nature recording’.
Premiering above is ‘Raataja’, the second track to be unveiled from the album following on from ‘Raajat’. ‘Raataja’, much like the rest of Rakka, applies a somewhat industrial edge to Ripatti’s past minimal, largely ambient work as Vladislav Delay for much-loved techno labels like Mille Plateaux, Raster-Noton and Chain Reaction.
Rakka is out on Shapednoise’s Cosmo Rhythmatic label on February 27.
