Vladislav Delay has teamed up with legendary dub and reggae producers Sly Dunbar and Robbie Shakespeare for a new album.
Titled 500-Push-Up, the nine-track release was recorded over a series of sessions at The Anchor Studios in Kingston, Jamaica, where Vladislav Delay, AKA Sasu RIpatti, joined Sly & Robbie. There, the trio recorded bass and drum tracks, as well as some additional vocal details and other elements, before Ripatti headed back to his home studio in Finland to finish the tracks.
500-Push-Up marks the second collaboration between Ripatti and Sly & Robbie, after all three also worked on 2018 album Nordub, alongside trumpet player Nils-Petter Molvaer and guitarist Eivind Aarset. The album also follows on from Rakka, the solo album that Ripatti released via Cosmo Rhythmatic last month.
Sub Rosa will release 500-Push-Up on May 15. You can listen to clips here.
