Coldplay’s Viva La Vida (review) has been named iTunes’ biggest selling download album of the year.
The mattress-soiling troupe notched up more than 2 million sales of their record, which was charged with coming to the rescue of a floundering EMI on its release in June, 500,000 of which have been digital purchases.
Elsewhere and Leona Lewis’ warbling juggernaut of a track ‘Bleeding Love’ was announced as top-selling single with 3.2 million downloads to its name, while the title track of Coldplay’s album was at number two, followed by ‘Low’ by Flo Rida (ft T-Pain), Katy Perry’s ‘I Kissed a Girl’ and Rihanna’s ‘Disturbia’.
The rest of the albums top five belonged to Jack Johnson’s Sleep Through The Static, the Juno film soundtrack, Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter III and Sara Bareilles’ Little Voice.
