Vessel, aka Seb Gainsborough, a member of Brisol’s ace Young Echo collective who also operates under his Panther Modern and REI aliases, as well as being part of Killing Sound, has just announced his new album. Punish, Honey will be out on Tri Angle Records, continuing a particularly prime run of releases, including Evian Christ’s Waterfall EP and Sd Laika’s That’s Harakiri, on September 15. The text accompanying the announcement explains that the album takes in Gainsborough questioning the notion of "’Englishness’ in music" and uses a host of homemade instruments, including metal sheets, flutes made from bikes and "harmonic guitars". "Vessel sought to create something that felt more organic even if the sounds themselves didn’t always feel inherently organic. That lessening interest in electronic sounds was concurrent with a burgeoning interest in natural sounds, in particular, how the physical body has a direct effect on the nature of the sound, whether it be harsh or pure, messy, violent, seductive, or strange," it adds.
