New York preppy boys Vampire Weekend stopped in at the XL Records party in London this afternoon to show off some new material before heading off to Hyde Park to support Blur.
The band took to the stage in the ICA main room to play two songs, ‘White Sky’ and ‘Cousins’.
Both tunes utilized the feel-good bonhomie that made their debut such a success with hipsters and beyond – jangling guitars, tight melodies and rumbling bass all still present and correct. ‘Cousins’ also features the same call-and-respond choral backing, and there’s still subtle nods to Paul Simon’s international explorations.
The follow-up to their eponymous debut is expected at some point this year.
