Urvakan, an Armenian festival which debuted earlier this year, has announced its full cast of curators for its second edition.
Returning to its Yerevan base in May, the festival’s line-up will feature curated programmes by Morphine Records boss Rabih Beaini, Oakland collective Club Chai, Russian labels GOST ZVUK and Klammklang, music technology-focused festival Synthposium, experimental music events organiser TKANI and Brandon Rosenbluth, who is a booking agent at LittleBig.
Muralist and graphic designer STFNV will also curate a programme of street art, while syg.ma will oversee a series of art exhibitions.
For its second edition, Urvakan will expand from the three-day event it was this year to five days, while it will yet again turn abandoned sites into new venues for its music and art programme as was the case this year. Next year’s event will see the festival return to the Yerevan Children’s Railway and Mirzoyan Library, while the main part of the music programme will take over a never-used-before venue, which the festival describes as a "abandoned scientific institute," in the suburbs of Yerevan.
