With this year’s Unsound Kraków fast approaching, the final line-up has been confirmed. William Burroughs looms large, namely in Get Out Of The Defensive Position, a new installation from Mark Fell. Paying tribute to Burroughs’ consciousness-altering Dream Machine as a celebration of the centenary of the writer’s birth, Fell will be placing two speaker circles around a turning platform and making use of a multi-layered ambisonic saxophone composition from Andre Vida. This comes in addition to other, "traditional" Dream Machines being place around Kraków. There’ll also be talks from Burroughs biographer Barry Miles, alongside David Keenan, Agata Pyzik and Jayne Gackenbach, while director Jan Klata will be staging a production of Alfred Jarry’s Ubu The King with the Narodowy Teatr Stary featuring music from Leyland Kirby.
Total Freedom has now been moved to the closing party, which boasts the mighty line-up of EiT – Call Super playing b2b with Objekt – Olivia, Transilvanian Galaxi, Bjørn Torske and Willie Burns, and there are further sets elsewhere from Wanda Group, Valerio Tricoli, Jacek Mazurkiewicz, Rafał Gorzycki & Sebastian Gruchot, Jachna/Buhl and Nagrobki. All these join a line-up that already of Swans, The Bug, Carter Tutti Void, Perc, Karen Gwyer, Kassem Mosse, Russell Haswell, Nurse With Wound, Cyclobe, Lee Gamble, Evian Christ, Grouper & Paul Clipson, Jenny Hval & Susanna, Pharmakon and more, running from October 12-19; head to the website for details.
