Yesterday we brought you news of an upcoming EP of unreleased material by Prince, collecting six tracks that he recorded between 2006 and 2008.
Prince’s estate has now filed a lawsuit against the label planning to release the EP with the tracks no longer set to be made available on streaming platforms from tomorrow as planned as a result of the action.
The EP, entitled Deliverance was to be comprised of tracks finished posthumously by a former studio collaborator of Prince’s, George Ian Boxill. TMZ reports that the removal of the EP from streaming platforms where it had previously been listed follows a lawsuit being filed yesterday against Boxill.
The lawsuit allegedly claims that Boxill had singed an agreement when working with Prince that the music recorded at that time would "remain Prince’s sole and exclusive property," adding that Boxill is "trying to exploit one or more songs for his personal gain at expense of the Prince Estate".
