Uncle Acid’s Blood Lust For Reissue

Brilliant low-fidelity garage/psych album for full CD/DL release

Last year, Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats’ psych/garage/doom behemoth Blood Lust crash-landed without warning in the upper echelons of our favourite albums of 2011. We described it thus: "Violent, druggy and hammy, its nine tracks – thick, groovy, riff-driven things, practically dripping with THC – are recorded in brow-beaten low-fidelity for an appropriately cracked, B-movie sort of feel."

The mysterious crew – from Cambridge – have let scant details go about themselves and their operations in the time period since, even convincingly maintaining an enigmatic front through our interview with Uncle Acid himself earlier this year. In the meantime, too, both vinyl pressings of Blood Lust have sold out instantly and immediately started fetching ludicrous pricings online. So the label, Rise Above, have announced that they are to reissue the album properly on CD/DL in mid-November for anyone who missed it the first time round, with an extra bonus track tacked onto the end entitled ‘Down To The Fire’.

In addition, further rumblings from the Uncle Acid camp suggests that the band are about to go into the studio – coinciding, suitably, with Hallowe’en – to record its full-length studio follow-up, which is due for release in March next year. They’ve also announced a pair of London shows, their debuts in the capital, on 22nd and 23rd March 2013. The first show has already sold out, and did so rapidly, leading them to book a second date the following night. It promises, we imagine, to be an appreciably psychedelic, overblown and druggy sort of a musical event.
