Why, who are these upstanding gents enjoying some refreshments in the woods? That’d be Uncle Acid and his Deadbeats, who’ve just been announced as support for Black Sabbath’s European tour later in the year.
They’ll also be playing slots at Reading and Leeds in August – have a look at the dates below.
Black Sabbath themselves had a turn up for the books when their new album 13 hit number one in the album chart yesterday, breaking the record for the longest gap between number one albums – it’s been 43 years since they last reached such lofty heights with Paranoid in 1970, breaking Rod Stewart’s record of 37 years.
Says Ozzy of his achievement: "I’m in shock, the success of this album has blown me off my feet. We’ve never had a record climb the charts so fast […] But Rod’s the same as us, we’ve got something other people haven’t got. It’s all manufactured bullshit these days. But the likes of Rod, and Elton John and us have got something different. We know our craft."
And as to whether there’ll be another Sabbath album: "I don’t know either way. We’re still reveling in coming back with this. There probably will be another album, but I don’t want to promise anything to anyone. It took us long enough to do this, and we can’t wait another 43 years to have another number one. If it comes to pass we don’t make another record, then I can rest easily knowing we finished things properly with 13."
