LISTEN: UKAEA / Basic Vanilla Split Album

UKAEA and Basic Vanilla stream their new split album release on Extreme Ultimate, which is out today

As UKAEA, Dan Jones has been gathering a lot of attention recently via a series of storming live gigs, and is a big favourite here at tQ, while as Basic Vanilla, Matthew Rozeik has been turning out some deeply captivating dark techno-adjacent experimentations in the form of a debut release which arrived in late 2016.

The next release on the Extreme Ultimate label sees Jones and Rozeik bring their project together on one release, each of them taking a cassette side each. The tape, simply entitled Split, sees UKAEA debut on the label and Basic Vanilla return following that debut release in December 0f 2016.

Across 11 tracks – five from UKAEA and six from Basic Vanilla – the pair demonstrate what they do best. Jones smashes through ruthless, dancefloor-focused techno while Rozeik takes a more hypnotic approach, drawing on dubbed-out drums and eerie melodies.

The tape, which is limited to 50 copies, can be purchased here, where the release is also available digitally.
