Tresor has shared details of an archival book looking back over the arrival of techno in Berlin and the founding of the club and associated label in the early ’90s.
Tresor: True Stories takes in more than 400 photos from the club’s archives, as well as flyers, record sleeves, news clippings and other ephemera. Co-founders Dimitri Hegemann, Achim Kohlberger, Johnnie Stieler and the late Regina Baer (who passed away last month) all look back over the Berlin techno institution’s early days in writing too.
Underground Resistance co-founders Jeff Mills and Mike Banks, key figures in bringing the Detroit techno sound to Berlin and Tresor, also offer their own thoughts in writing, alongside figures such as Mark Reeder and Electric Indigo.
The book forms the latest part in Tresor’s 31st anniversary celebrations, with the club having reopened in May of this year for the first time since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. The club is currently amidst a two-month festival marking the anniversary, Tresor31.
Tresor will publish Tresor: True Stories on September 9, 2022.
