Next up on Lawrence English’s ever-reliable Room40 label is the first solo recording from drummer Tony Buck in 15 years in the form of Unearth.
Streaming above ahead of its September release is the video for the album’s title track in which Buck’s gloomy, claustrophobic sounds are accompanied by suitably unsettling visuals captured in the dark of what appears to be a jungle setting.
Many will know Buck through his work with Australian trio The Necks, but his work extends far beyond the avant group having released music stretching back almost three decades. This latest album has been built across several years and draws not only on Buck’s experience as a percussionist but also explores his less known interests in guitar, synthesiser and field recordings.
