Tommy Udo RIP

Tireless champion of underground and extreme music passes away after ill-health

Everyone at TQHQ was saddened to hear about the death of music writer Tommy Udo, who worked for NME, XFM and Metal Hammer as well as occasionally this site and numerous titles as a freelancer.

Tommy was both a scabrous wit in print and online as well as a compassionate person in real life. He had an uncanny knack for digging up extreme and weird music, seemingly before anyone else and he was a true champion of alternative and exciting sounds over the space of several decades.

His coma diary, North Of Purgatory was one of the first truly original pieces of writing this site ever ran.

We offer sincere condolences to all his family and friends, especially his two sons. Rest well Tommy.
