Yesterday, Tina Weymouth of Tom Tom Club was on the phone to BBC 6 Music’s Mark Radcliffe talking about the recording of the band’s new EP, ‘Downtown Rockers’, coming out on March 18 via earMUSIC – listen above.

She also touched on her memories of former CBGB owner Hilly Kristal, recording the Happy Mondays’ ill-fated album Yes Please! and the lingering possibility of reforming the Talking Heads.

On the latter, Weymouth tellingly said: "I don’t see David Byrne coming forward – I think he’s another kind of person than we [herself, Chris Frantz and Jerry Harrison] are, and I don’t know, at least from hearing what he’s done, that we would be on the same page anymore.

"We used to have a great chemistry, and I’d like to remember it that way and not be attempting to reheat a souffle."

The Radcliffe and Maconie show is on weekdays from 1-4pm – tune in here.

Equally, watch this space for more Tom Tom Club features coming up over the next few weeks.

Radcliffe’s co-host Stuart Maconie also hosts the Freakier Zone show on Saturday nights, which was a Louisville math rock special last week, with Stuart and producer Henrietta Rowlatt playing tracks by Slint, Rodan and June Of 44 – we’d urge you to listen here before it times out in one day’s time.
