Tim Lambesis, the frontman of San Diego heavy metallers As I Lay Dying, was arrested yesterday over claims that he had instigated a plot to kill his former wife, report Reuters.
Police arrested him in Oceanside, a city near San Diego, on charges that he had enlisted a undercover detective to have his estranged wife Meggan, who filed papers to dissolve their marriage last year, killed.
Jan Caldwell, a spokesperson for San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, said: "The information came to us late last week. We acted quickly on it. I believe that we averted a great tragedy."
As I Lay Dying recently completed a tour of Asia and are currently scheduled to play dates in the U.S. later this month.
