In the same way that Sonic Youth named the Murray Street EP for post-9/11 New York, Thurston Moore’s latest release ‘Detonation’ pays homage to the revolutionary community activists of his new haunt, London’s N16. Released as part of Blank Edition’s Solo Series as a 500-copy limited edition 7” (now sold out), backed with ‘Germs Burn’, "a shout-out to punk rock secret society love", the cut’s reminiscent of Sonic Youth’s earliest records. An abrupt break from the thoughtful and melodic releases that Thurston Moore has been putting out under his own name for the past few years, it’s a chaotic two minutes of his signature collage-lyricism.
