Thom Yorke Shares Remix Of MF DOOM’s ‘Gazzillion Ear’

It's the second time Yorke has remixed the track

Thom Yorke has shared a remix of the late MF DOOM’s 2010 track ‘Gazzillion Ear’.

Dubbed the ‘Man On Fire Remix’, the new take on the track marks the second time Yorke has remixed the J Dilla-produced song, with another version appearing on the original single in 2010. Yorke first teased this latest version of the track back in 2016, during an appearance on Benji B’s BBC Radio 1 show, with it now set to feature as part of Lex XX, Lex Records’ remix series celebrating the London label’s 20th anniversary. You can check out the remix above.

In a statement, Lex Records said: "Daniel Dumile [MF DOOM] (RIP) was one of the most prolific artists on Lex, releasing three studio albums as lead vocalist and one as a beatmaker. We spent a huge amount of time with him in the 2010s. He’ll be missed always.

"J Dilla and MF DOOM only made a handful of tracks together. The best was ‘Gazillion Ear’, built around a massive Giorgio Moroder sample. Thom Yorke remixed the track twice. The first version was originally released simply under ‘Thom Yorke Remix’ but he delivered it with the moniker ‘Monkey Hustle Remix’ to differentiate it from the ‘Man On Fire Remix’, which gets its debut release 12 years after Thom delivered it."

Earlier this year, Thom Yorke debuted a new project with Jonny Greenwood and Sons Of Kemet’s Tom Skinner, called The Smile, as part of Glastonbury’s Live At Worthy Farm online stream.

‘Gazzillion Ear (Man On Fire Remix)’ is out now on Lex Records.
