Greg Anderson, founder of Southern Lord Recordings and member of SUNN O))), has formed a new band called This White Light.
Made up of Anderson, Jade Devitt (Lucky Me, Gale Forces) on drums, Bryan Herweg (Pelican) on bass and Jen Wood (formerly of Tattle Tale and collaborator with the Postal Service) on vocals, the band’s first single ‘Winter Flowers’ is streaming above.
The four-piece have been working on material since last year and ‘Winter Flowers’ is one of the early demos to emerge from those initial sessions. They plan to record across next week at Josh Homme’s Pink Duck studios, with him producing the recordings.
The initial seeds for This White Light come from Anderson Devitt’s decision to begin to make music with one another again, having previously played together in the ’90s as Engine Kid. Chance encounters led to the final line-up of This White Light with Herweg and Wood soon joining the fold.
You can find more information on the band via their Bandcamp and Facebook pages.
