TNPs Magic Resonator Piano Installation

Quietus favourites get to have a tinkle on the These New Puritans' Magic Resonator Piano

Poetic experimental impressionists These New Puritans have announced guest spots for their forthcoming interactive art installation presented by The Vinyl Factory, taking place at 180 the Strand art galleries on 15-19 April. Song gardener East India Youth, Scanner and Charles Hayward will join These New Puritans in presenting their ‘Magnetic Field’ exhibition, which centres around a ‘Magnetic Resonator Piano’ (MRP), an electronically-augmented acoustic piano which uses a series of magnets and sensors to manipulate the piano’s strings, creating infinite sustain, crescendos, harmonics, pitch bends and unusual new timbres. The MRP was used for the first time in popular music on TNP’s beautiful 2013 masterstroke, </>Field of Reeds.

In the interim, enjoy the rarefied strains of this TNP remix of ‘Sound Dredge’ here:
