Last month, The Vaselines announced their third album, V For Vaselines, with the band’s Eugene Kelly saying it stemmed from wanting "to write some really short punk rock songs, just get into people’s ear really straight away, and then get out of there really quickly". They marked the news by unveiling lead track ‘One Lost Year’, which you can download below, and now they’ve filmed an acoustic version in Mogwai’s Castle Of Doom studio, where the album was recorded, and given us a first look at the results.
In further Vaselines news, they also played some tracks from the album for Marc Riley on 6 Music last night, which you can hear here. Plus, they’ll be playing three shows in the week of release: Edinburgh’s Caves on September 29, the day the album’s out, Brudenell Social Club in Leeds on September 30 and Hoxton Bar & Kitchen in London on October 1 – get tickets at the band’s website.
