The Soft Close-Ups Release New Album

City Air available on Bandcamp ahead of London show on Saturday

The Soft Close-Ups, the Atlantic-spanning guitar-pop band centred around David Shah and the Quietus’ own comic books editor Aug Stone, have put out their new album City Air on Bandcamp today ahead of the official digital release for iTunes and Spotify on Monday, March 3. The early release of the album is in anticipation of their performance on Saturday, March 1, at the Paper Dress in Shoreditch. The self-described "art-pop duo-turned-band" have also made the single ‘Awkward Scenes’ available as a free download in exchange for an e-mail address; head here to get hold of it.

The album features ten songs of both acoustic and full-band recordings some of which are reworked versions of previously-released tracks. Aug has posted liner notes on the album to the band’s Tumblr and Bandcamp page, describing the writing processes, inspirations and musings on the tracks featured. Buy the album here and go to the Facebook event for full details of their Paper Dress gig. In the meantime, listen to ‘Awkward Scenes’ below and watch the video for the title track at the foot of the page:
