The Smile Detail Third Studio Album, ‘Cutouts’

It includes string arrangements by the London Contemporary Orchestra

The Smile – the trio of Thom Yorke, Jonny Greenwood and Tom Skinner – are set to release their third studio album in October.

Titled Cutouts, the 10-track record was written and recorded between Oxford and London’s Abbey Road Studios at around the same time as their previous album, Wall Of Eyes, which came out in January of this year. The band debuted several songs from the new record during their UK tour back in March.

Cutouts takes in string arrangements by the London Contemporary Orchestra, and comes with album art which was painted by Yorke and longtime visual collaborator Stanley Donwood during the recording process. Previously released singles ‘Don’t Get Me Started’ and ‘The Slip’ appear on the tracklist.

To mark the announcement of the new album, the trio have shared two more songs: ‘Zero Sum’ and ‘Foreign Spies’. The former comes backed by a video by visual artist Weirdcore, which you can watch below. You can also watch a video for the other cut below.

XL Recordings will release Cutouts on October 4, 2024.
