The Raincoats’ Gina Birch Reveals Debut Solo Album

"The album distils my years of musical, political and artistic life with these genre-breaking songs," Birch has said of 'I Play My Bass Loud'

The Raincoats’ Gina Birch is set to release her debut solo album next year.

Spanning 11 tracks, I Play My Bass Loud "distils my years of musical, political and artistic life," according to a statement shared by Birch. "It’s a personal diary using sounds and lyrics, full of fun, rage and storytelling." You can watch a video for lead track ‘Wish I Was You’, which features guitar from Thurston Moore, above.

Birch is set to release the album through Jack White’s Third Man Records, and a limited edition 7-inch vinyl single of ‘Wish I Was You’ will be made available exclusively at the label’s own record stores from this Friday (November 11). She will also perform live in the basement venue at the London branch of the record store on the day of the album’s release in February.

Third Man Records will release I Play My Bass Loud on February 24, 2023.
