LISTEN: Unheard The Pop Group Recording

The band share a previously unreleased version of 'Blood Money' which features as part of the bonus material on their 40th anniversary reissue of the album 'Y'

The Pop Group will release a definitive 40th anniversary reissue of their debut album, Y, via Mute next week. Lifted from it, above, you can watch a video for a previously unheard and unreleased recording of their track ‘Blood Money’ which comes newly-packaged as ‘Blood Money (Slow Thief)’.

The original featured on Y and this recording has gone unearthed for four decades, but will now feature as part of Alien Blood, the bonus package of unreleased material, demos and rarities that will feature within the new reissue.

The video above was created by the artist and filmmaker Peter Harris, Mark Stewart and the animator Llyr Williams. "Stewart sent Harris a series of images (including an old advert for novelty rubber masks), which were then used to create a collection of nightmarish scenarios, evoked by collaged fragments assembled before the camera in extreme close-up," a press release explains.

Ahead of the release of the Y 40th anniversary reissue next Friday (November 1), tQ will host an exclusive first playback of the half-speed remastered vinyl at our upcoming The Quietus Social event in London this Tuesday (November 29) at which Stephen Mallinder will also guest.
