PREMIERE: The Notwist And Juana Molina Share ‘Al Sur’

“We wanted to question the concept of a band by adding other voices and ideas, other languages," The Notwist's Markus Acher says of their new work

German indie veterans have revealed a new track from their forthcoming album, Vertigo Days.

‘Al Sur’, premiering below, is a serene, yet pummelling slice of electronica which features vocals and synths from Argentinian musician Juana Molina. It’s the sixth track to be previewed from Vertigo Days, the band’s first album in almost seven years, ahead of its release later this month.

‘Al Sur’ is one of a number of tracks on Vertigo Days to feature international guests, with other contributors including Angel Bat Dawid, Ben LaMar Gay Saya of Tenniscoats, and Japanese brass band Zayaendo.

“We wanted to question the concept of a band by adding other voices and ideas, other languages, and also question or blur the idea of national identity,” says The Notwist’s Markus Acher, who remains part of the band’s central trio along with brother Micha Acher and Cico Beck.

Morr Music will release Vertigo Days on January 29, 2021.
