The Dandy Warhols Say “Free The Weed”

Band to play pot legalising gig at grot mansion

The Dandy Warhols are to play a concert in support of legalising marijuana. The concert will take place at the Playboy Mansion tomorrow night, and will also feature a DJ set by David J of Bauhaus.

The concert is in support of the Marijuana Policy Project, who want everyone to have the right to get blasted out of their gourd on bongends and paint the insides of ambulances brown. Actually, they say the believe the US government should allow research into the potential therapeutic benefits of the drug. Is it a smokescreen?

Courtney Taylor-Taylor told NME.com why his band wanted to play:

"We have a lot of stoners in our ban [sic] so to have marijuana still be illegal is ridiculous. As a recreational chemical it’s a lot less dangerous than alcohol. There are a lot of countries where it’s perfectly legal and they get along better than America. Plus it may be our only chance to go to the Playboy Mansion and hang out."
