Live recordings of two new songs by The Cure will be released on eco-vinyl next month.
The songs, titled ‘And Nothing Is Forever’ and ‘I Can Never Say Goodbye’, have become fixtures of the band’s live concerts amid frontman Robert Smith working on a follow-up to the last The Cure album, 2008’s 4:13 Dream. The live version of ‘And Nothing Is Forever’ featured on the vinyl release was captured at Montpellier’s Sud de France Arena on November 8, 2022, while the recording of ‘I Can Never Say Goodbye’ was taken from the band’s show at Zénith Toulouse Métropole in Toulouse on November 13, 2022.
The record, which is being put out by NAKED Record Club, is titled Novembre: Live In France 2022 and marks the band’s first release of new material in 16 years. Net profits from the sale of the vinyl will be donated to the Brian Eno-co-founded climate charity EarthPercent, and the first 100 of the 5,000 total pressings will be signed by Smith.
In a statement, Eno said: “I’d like to thank The Cure and NAKED Record Club – both true innovators – for their generous support of vital climate projects through the release of Novembre: Live In France 2022. It’s a powerful example of how the music community can work together to build a better world.”
NAKED Record Club will release Novembre: Live In France 2022 on October 1, 2024.
