The Cure have announced a new concert film-focused box set titled 40 LIVE – CURAETION-25 + ANNIVERSARY.
The box set takes in footage of two live shows captured during the band’s 2018 celebrations of their 40th anniversary as a band. It will be made available in Blu-Ray and DVD editions, and will also come with 4xCD versions of the concerts.
The first of the two films, CURAETION-25: From There To Here | From Here To There, takes in the band’s show at London’s Royal Festival Hall when they closed the Robert Smith-curated Meltdown festival in June of 2018.
The second film, ANNIVERSARY: 1978-2018 Live In Hyde Park London, which was also recently given a wider cinema release, was filmed a month later in July 2018. The setlist included a number of the band’s greatest hits as well as two previously unreleased songs: ‘It Can Never Be the Same’ and ‘Step Into the Light’. Both films were directed by longtime The Cure collaborator Tim Pope.
The Cure will release 40 LIVE – CURAETION-25 + ANNIVERSARY on October 18 via Eagle Vision.
