The Body And Dis Fig Team Up For The First Time On New LP

'Orchards Of A Futile Heaven' is out in February

The Body have teamed up with Berlin-based DJ and producer Dis Fig for a new collaborative album, Orchards Of A Futile Heaven.

Out in February, the seven-track record marks the first time the two acts have teamed up on record, and they connected over their shared desire “to find new avenues to make heavy music that looked beyond tropes of metal and electronic music by merging the two,” a press release says. You can listen to lead track ‘Holy Lance’ below.

Speaking about the sound of the record, The Body’s Lee Buford said in a statement: “I always wanted the heavier stuff but I also didn’t really like heavier guitar music. None of it really felt quite heavy enough to me. A human can’t be as heavy as a machine.”

Dis Fig, real name Felicia Chen, added: “I love the balance. You could never connect to just a machine as well as you could a human, which is why the combination is so potent for me. I don’t want to hide. I think nothing connects you more empathetically than another human’s voice.”

Thrill Jockey will release Orchards Of A Futile Heaven on February 23, 2024.
